About this activity

Often called the Everest Circuit Trek, the Gokyo to Everest Base Camp Trek offers an exhilarating experience in the Everest Himalayas. This ambitious route guides adventurers to the Everest Base Camp via the Cho La Pass, which peaks at a formidable altitude of 5,330 meters, leading to the iconic base of Mount Everest itself.
Commencing in Lukla, the trail meanders through the vibrant trading center of Namche Bazaar, ascends to the serene Gokyo, crosses the challenging Cho La Pass, climbs to the viewpoint of Kala Patthar, and culminates at Everest Base Camp.
This path winds through the homeland of the famed Sherpa community, located beneath the imposing shadow of Mt. Everest, which soars to 8,848.86 meters. Along the trek, you follow the well-trodden path beside the Dudh Koshi River to its source, the tranquil Gokyo Lakes, situated west of Everest Base Camp.
A standout experience on this trek is ascending Gokyo Ri. At an elevation of 5,483 meters, it presents a spectacular panoramic vista encompassing Cho Oyo, Everest, and Makalu—some of the Earth’s highest peaks.
Throughout the journey from Gokyo Lakes to Everest Base Camp, trekkers enjoy magnificent views of Everest among other towering peaks. In addition, trekkers can visit Buddhist monasteries perched at world-high altitudes along the route, allowing them to gain insight into the spiritual depth of the region.
